A collection of previously unseen images of the city’s worst air raid of World War II from the Grampian Police archive, along with audio extracts from eye witness interviews and war-time artefacts.

Come and view Grampian Police Force Museum’s exhibition of previously unseen photos showing bomb damage from Aberdeen’s worst ever air raid of World War II, 21 April 1943.

These recently discovered slides belonging to what was Aberdeen City Police, have been digitised and identified with the help of Aberdeen Environmental Education Centre, Skene Square School.

Alongside 35 of the 1943 images will be the contemporary locations to show the devastation caused by the Luftwaffe on that single night when 127 bombs were dropped. Also available during the exhibition are a number of audio extracts from eye-witness interviews, men who were children at the time; and a number of police
artefacts from WWII. Those with reminiscences to share are encouraged to contact the Force Curator or indicate their interest during the exhibition.
