Nexus:Communities (June 2007)
Throughout June Aberdeen is hosting a series of artist’s residencies, where selected artists from around Scotland will pair up with prominent local artists to produce several new collaborative artworks on the theme of ‘community’. The project, run by Limousine Bull Artist’s Collective with funding from the Scottish Arts Council and Aberdeen City Council, has drawn contemporary artists from city, country and island locations throughout Scotland for week-long residencies, culminating in ‘open-studio’ exhibitions each Saturday throughout June at the Limousine Bull project space in the Deemouth Business Centre in Torry. Project manager for Limousine Bull, Mike Samson said, “In a society where our physical communities are increasingly replaced by ‘online’ communities, the artwork will add to the debate of what community actually means to us in 2007”. At the end of June the artwork will be touring Scotland with exhibitions proposed at each of the visiting artist’s home locations beginning with An Tuireann gallery on Skye. For directions on how to get to the exhibitions please visit the 'find us' section or contact Limousine Bull on 01224 877001.
